Sheep BehaviorSheep are very social animals. They are docil and timid creatures. Sheep are gregarious animals and form large groups while grazing. They can also pasture together with horses or cattle. Sheep are exclusively herbivores. These animals eat grass, leaves, and twigs. Because they are ruminants, their stomach has four compartments. Sheep swallow their food and later regurgitate a cud and chew it again. Sheep need plenty of clean water and prefer to drink running water. They have scent glands on their face and hind feet.
